Garden railroading brings model railroading outdoors with real scenery. Layouts can be as simple as a loop of track on existing terrain, or dedicated landscaping in a garden of scale plants, buildings, bridges, and streams. The fact that the railroad is outdoors promotes involvement from family, friends, and neighbors.
Purpose
The Northern Colorado Garden Railroaders are a group
of men and women, of all ages, dedicated to sharing knowledge and providing
fellowship and support to all those interested in the hobby.

Newsletter
The NCGR Time Table is published monthly,
primarily to provide information about upcoming meetings and events, but usually
contains articles contributed by the membership.
Region
Most of our members live in the Fort
Collins/Loveland/Greeley Colorado area. All are welcome. Some of our members
also belong to the Denver Garden Railway Society, a much larger club, which
compliments membership in the NCGR nicely.
History
The NCGR was founded in Feb 1999 by Del Tapparo, with the help of Terl Robinson,
and encouragement from Mark Goldrich, Pat Hayward, George Lampke, and John
Wells. After Del contacted them to visit their railroads, two things were
obvious; he was hooked on the hobby, and there seemed to be enough local activity to
support a club. We soon had a membership of 19, and dues were
established for the year 2000 to support the publishing and mailing of a club
newsletter. In 2002, we established formal leadership and by-laws to ensure the
longevity of our growing club.
Charter members that are still active in the club: Mark Goldrich, Terl Robinson, Del Tapparo.
Statistics
We currently have 41 member families with
25 operational railroads (including garden, indoor, and riding varieties) with
many more under construction.
Dues
Dues are $20 per family. Dues are renewable January 1st. New members pay $1.67 per month for
each remaining month in the year. Dues primarily
cover the cost of publishing and mailing the newsletter.
Join the Club
If you have any interest at all, please contact us today. We would like to meet
you. You are welcome to attend meetings as a guest at any time. Guest members
will receive the newsletter for three months, with no obligation. If you would
like to become a guest member or join us as a regular member, please contact our
Secretary/Treasurer.
NCGR Brochure
If you would like to tell others about our club, feel free to print out our
Brochure. This is a two-sided
document, so print side one, flip your paper, print side two, fold into thirds,
and you will have an official NCGR brochure.
